Dawkins and Stein had a lengthy conversation, which was recorded in the movie.
Liberalism has showered accolades on atheist author Richard Dawkins' best-selling book "The God Delusion." But when Stein suggests to Dawkins that he's been critical of the Old Testament God, Dawkins protests -- not that Stein is wrong, but that he's being too mild. He then reads from this jaw-dropping paragraph of his book:
"The God of the Old Testament is arguably the most unpleasant character in all fiction: jealous and proud of it; a petty, unjust, unforgiving control freak; a vindictive, bloodthirsty ethnic cleanser; a misogynistic, homophobic, racist, infanticidal, genocidal, filicidal, pestilential, megalomaniacal, sadomasochistic, capriciously malevolent bully."Dawkins' arrogant blasphemy was no credit to him. He thinks of himself as quite a scholar and virtually mistake-free in his assessment of God. The Father in heaven will one day "assess" him.
Then came this brilliant piece of logic and wisdom from the mouth of Dawkins:
Moderator Ben Stein asks Dawkins how life began:
BEN STEIN:And what was that?
DAWKINS:It was the origin of the first self-replicating molecule.
BEN STEIN:Right, and how did that happen?
DAWKINS:I told you, we don't know
...
BEN STEIN:What do you think is the possibility that Intelligent Design might turn out to be the answer to some issues in genetics or in evolution.
DAWKINS:Well, it could come about in the following way. It could be that at some earlier time, somewhere in the universe, a civilization evolved, probably by some kind of Darwinian means, probably to a very high level of technology, and designed a form of life that they seeded onto perhaps this planet. Now, um, now that is a possibility, and an intriguing possibility. And I suppose it's possible that you might find evidence for that if you look at the details of biochemistry, molecular biology, you might find a signature of some sort of designer.
BTW, how did this highly evolved, tech-savvy form of life evolve? Dawkins didn't answer the question, he merely transferred it from one world to another. If Darwinian means hadn't worked so well here, how did it work there?
Dawkins has fallen into a trap like Aquinas' infinite regression. He can't answer anything for sure, because, having rejected God, he is only guessing. Why, friend, should anyone base their lives on his futile and empty guess.
In Scripture, the fool is not necessarily someone who is mentally deficient. It is someone who chooses to live his life without the knowledge or the acknowledgment of God.

This was an outstanding expose of the tyranny of the darwinian establishment and the the tremendous contributions darwinism has made to the advent of nazism, eugenics and abortion. Social darwinism and its connection to myriad atrocities is a link that darwinists seek to hide and deny and truth seekers must point the glaring light of truth upon.
Excellent observation Phil. Too bad the scientific world in general can't grasp truth with the same amount of wisdom as one Tennessee preacher I know. Thanks for the post.

Great article, Phil. Isn't it amazing that these men of science, who have no use for faith, would grasp at such a theory for the origin of life? Francis Crick, the discoverer of DNA and Nobel Prize Winner, also espoused this "alien life" theory. And here's why they will go to such far out lengths...They begin with the presupposition that God cannot exist, therefore that doesn't leave them with much else.
This was the best movie I've seen in a long time. Stein has a way of making people look foolish without them knowing it. I didn't need convincing about Intelligent Design, but I did need a laugh about the absurdity of the beliefs of Dawkins and PZ Myers. I hope lots of folks go to see it. It's the only movie I'v ever recommended to my congregation.
I stood up and cheered. Ben Stein did such an impressive job that the media and Hollywood can do nothing but fulfill the accusation that Stein makes in the movie. Amazing isn't it. I emailed Ben and told him he was my hero for the week. He even emailed me back!
In reality Stein's work was so good because he showed how this is a worldviews battle and that they HAVE TO HAVE Darwinism in order for their worldview to survive. The evidence doesn't matter to them, what matters is the survival of their worldview (that excludes God). This really is the battle ground.
I saw the movie today with my wife and we both found it amazing what these people believe about origins. The gall to sit there and call believers in a Creator stupid for their beliefs only to reveal that their beliefs are far far out there. I'll be interesting to see how they will try to cover this over. Eugenie Scott has already said that they're working on a website to combat what has been said and stated in Stein's movie. There will be a lot of back-peddling and untruths to be sure.
